Dock
What is this?
Dock is a component of the shell that provides quick access to frequently used applications, files, folders, and system functions.
Some features of Dock include:
- Application launching, allowing users to open applications;
- Running application indicators, displaying a dot below the application icon;
- File and folder shortcuts, allowing users to pin files and folders to the dock;
- Drag-and-drop functionality, allowing users to change the order of icons, add and remove applications, and so on;
- Context menus, accessible with right-click or long-press, revealing options to quit applications and remove applications from the dock; and
- Auto-hide, with the dock disappearing off the screen when not in use.
